SPLITN2 supports NZ Alpine Club Expedition Capital Fund

To be able to contribute something positive to the New Zealand outdoors community is a very satisfying objective for SPLITN2 (Aotearoa Back Country Developments Ltd). So a search was on for a partner to work with. It is clear that one of the many great motives of the NZ Alpine Club is to foster and support NZAC members expedition's, and that partnering with them would achieve SPLITN2's goal, helping to build a great resource to support NZAC member future expedition. The Expedition Capital Fund was established in 2012, with the intention of taking a long term view of building a Capital base to fund expeditions. The proceeds of the inaugural Remarkables Ice and Mixed Festival were kindly donated as seed funding and the commitment has been made by the organisers to donate the proceeds from subsequent years. On current projections, this will establish a Capital Fund of over $100,000 within 10 years. In turn, NZAC has made the commitment not to draw down on the Expedition Capital Fund for five years and to only draw upon the interest earned in any given year after that. So effective April 2013, for the foreseeable future, NZAC members who purchase goods from SPLITN2 will be entitled to a 10% discount off the advertised price, and a further 1% of the purchase price will be donated by SPLITN2 to the NZAC Expedition Capital Fund.
